NOX Connect Privacy Policy

NOX Connect is a companion browser extension for the NOX macOS app. This policy explains exactly what it accesses and where that data goes. The short version: your data never leaves your computer.

NOX Connect requires the NOX macOS app. The data practices below apply specifically to the browser extension; the NOX app and service are covered by our main Privacy Policy.

When — and only when — you press Connect for a platform in the extension popup, NOX Connect reads the specific authentication cookies for that platform from your browser:

• X (x.com): auth_token, ct0, twid.
• Instagram (instagram.com): sessionid, ds_user_id, csrftoken, mid, ig_did.
• Slack (slack.com): d, d-s.

It does not read cookies for any other site, your browsing history, page content, passwords, or form data.

The cookies are sent over a loopback (localhost) connection only to the NOX app running on the same computer, at http://127.0.0.1. They are never transmitted to NOX's servers, the extension developer, or any third party. Nothing leaves your machine.

The transfer is gated by a one-time pairing: the NOX app shows a 6-digit code in its own window that you type into the extension, and every transfer thereafter is authenticated with a token issued by the app.

In the browser's local extension storage, NOX Connect keeps only operational state: the discovered local app address, the pairing token issued by the app, and per-platform “last synced” timestamps. This never leaves the browser.

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use it for advertising, and the extension collects no analytics.

Pressing Disconnect in the extension popup (or disconnecting the platform inside the NOX app) immediately stops all transfers for that platform. Uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored state.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the extension or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date above indicates the most recent revision.
